PORTIA'S CHILDREN

PCM is committed to contributing a minimum of 10% of its profits towards the education of children from single parent homes.

Unfortunately, our nation has become a place where the number of individuals below the poverty line continues to increase.  Once someone becomes poor, it becomes difficult to move up the income scale.  Education and skills can provide a means out of this economic trap.

As President Johnson stated in one of his Presidential addresses, “many Americans live on the outskirts of hope—some because of their poverty and some because of their color, and all too many because of both.” However, it doesn’t take a lot of money to increase an individual’s education and skill level. Studies show that every one thousand dollars invested in salvaging an unemployable youth can return $40,000 or more in her or his lifetime.

Portia’s Children’s goal is to give disadvantaged youth hope and help them move beyond their economic circumstances.
